The Children's Museum of Houston is great...but I think the best part of our trip to Houston was visiting The Church of the Annunciation in downtown and re-connecting with our friends the Callahans! We didn't initially set out to explore The Church of the Annunciation, but we happened to still be downtown on Saturday evening and Lori wanted to take a walk...I said "how about to that steeple over there?" Annunciation was the second Catholic Church established in Houston and is today the oldest church in Houston (the first church, St Vincent's must not have survived). The stained glass windows almost jump out at you and capture most of the mysteries of the rosary. Our timing was providential to both go to reconciliation and celebrate Mass. Fr. Felix had just returned from the March For Life in Washington DC that we have walked in several times and we loved how he incorporated his experience into his homily!
We have visited some spectacular places on our trip, but there just isn't anything like re-connecting with people. We got to share an afternoon and dinner with good friends from when we lived in Chesapeake VA....we have a few more kids now and some of theirs have already flown the coop, but we had a wonderful time catching up and sharing stories just as if we lived down the street from each other. Thank you Callahans!
