We set up camp in Door County Wisconsin near Sturgeon Bay...which is about 45 miles from Green Bay...home of the NFL's Green Bay Packers (...also known as Titletown for the many NFL titles won be the Packers). Our campground was loaded with activities including cool bikes we could check out, 5-cent treats, 2 big water slides into a big swimming, putt-putt golf and sandy pond for swimming. With all the fun things in camp, it was hard to motivate a trip into Green Bay to visit Lambeau Field and stop at the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help, but we made it happen. Despite being a self-professed New England Patriots fan, William couldn't resist using his allowance to get a trademark Cheesehead hat that Packers fans have made famous. William didn't quite have enough money to complete the purchase, so he's on the hook for some extra work around the trailer to work off the extra money he needed. The Packers have done a terrific job making the stadium and team facilities available to the public and we were Packers fans for about an hour while we were there.
We also visited the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help that is site worthy of belief where the Blessed Mother Mary appeared to young Adele Brise on a couple occasions in October, 1859. Mary asked Adele to teach the children of the area about Jesus and their faith since there were WAY more immigrants in the area than priests could teach themselves. Sister Adele spent the rest of her life teaching children and families about Jesus in every way she could think of from house-to-house catechesis to founding schools. Ever since the apparitions, there has been a steady flow of pilgrims who come to the site for prayer and reflection even 150+ years after Mary appeared.
